Probably one can get for around 500, is the lowest of 300 (but probably it will be pretty crap). If you are a student, look at the administration building, sometimes up students for employment, rents are affordable.

San Jose, California or Costa Rica or .... Always use your local newspaper and check the classifieds for rental determined pricfes.
Nothing is in San Jose, even the smallest of apartments cheap. The next option for a less expensive would be a space on the floor of a garage to share with 15 or 20 new arrivals, but they are usually not all at once, so you might be able to adapt.
